6. Applying: Curves via Grade Schemes

Use a Grade Scheme to apply a curve to a Grade Item (including Final Grades).

You can use a custom Grade Scheme to automatically apply a curve to a single Grade Item, typically the Final Grade calculation. The simplest way to do this is to copy, then modify, the existing Letter Grade Scheme.

  1. Navigate to the Grade Schemes page by selecting the Schemes tab.
  2. Select the More Actions button, then choose CopyScreenshot of Schemes with More Actions expanded.

  3. Choose the University of Arizona Standard Letter Grade scheme, and then select CopyCopy button and the University of Arizona Standard Letter Grade (selected).

  4. Select the Copy of University of Arizona Standard Letter Grade scheme to make changes.
  5. Enter your curve percentages in the Start % column. For example, this curve starts each letter grade 5% lower than the default. Shows an example Grade Scheme. A=85%, B=75%, C=65%, D=55%, and E=0+

  6. Enter a name for the scheme.
  7. Select Save and Close.
  8. Edit the Grade Item you want to curve.
